A Benau Labasa man who lost his 70 year old mother, Nagamma in a tragic house fire which also claimed the lives of three other women today, is alleging that their house was set on fire early this morning.

Bal Krishna says there is nothing in the world that can replace his mother as he can find a shelter somewhere, but his mother will not come back.

The three other women who were residing at his home were also in their 70s.

Krishna claims that he knows some people that he alleges set his house on fire.

Krishna says they were having continuous disputes with some people in their area and he also claims that he had seen some people running away from their house on some occasions.

He says he had discussed with his mother just yesterday afternoon that they should move out of the house and live somewhere else however his mother did not want to leave the house.

Krishna also told fijivillage that the fire started from his mother’s room and he tried to put out the fire but was unsuccessful.

Police Spokesperson, Ana Naisoro says the investigation is still in its early stages and they cannot speculate until the cause of the fire is determined.
