Villagers of Anitioki in Tailevu will now benefit from a new $3.5 million road that has been opened by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.

Village Headman Uraia Vuetibau says their children would travel to school by boat, farmers would have to cart their produce by boat and it was always challenging for the villagers but that will be history.

He also thanked the government for constructing the new road access.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says the roadway was requested by the community after years of facing hardship of hiring boats to reach the nearest roadway and making the journey to Nausori Town.

Bainimarama adds that by building this road they are opening the community to the country, they are bringing greater opportunity into their lives, and they are also making their talents, ideas, and ambition a bigger part of the national life for the benefit of every Fijian.
