Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad says he is getting on with the job of fixing the economic mess that former Economy Minister, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has left behind.

With government debt expected to reach close to $10 billion, Professor Prasad says Sayed-Khaiyum should stop wasting his time talking about economic issues like tabling a mini-budget which Sayed-Khaiyum does not understand.

He also asks whether Sayed-Khaiyum is still legally the General Secretary of the FijiFirst Party as he had attended a Constitutional Offices Commission meeting as a member.

Sayed-Khaiyum had called for the coalition government to present a mini budget and asked what it was scared of.

We have also sent questions to the Fijian Elections Office on Sayed-Khaiyum’s General Secretary position.
