The adult bus fares for all stages across the country increases by 7 cents from today.
The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission had determined the increase and made the announcement last month following an independent analysis on the submission by the Fiji Bus Operators Association and widespread public consultations with the travelling public.
It said an increase in the maximum bus fare of 7 cents per stage has been deemed necessary for the sustainability of the Fijian bus industry.
School fares increase from 4th May this year.
President of the Fiji Bus Operators Association, Nisar Ali Shah says Vodafone Fiji has already updated its database and they have switched to the new bus fare database.
It has been ten years since the last maximum fare review.
