Around 150 residents of Nakorovu Road in Wainibuku have been without water for the past two days following a burst main line.

Speaking to fijivillage News, resident Arneel Prasad says the situation has left families struggling, and many are forced to spend extra money on takeaway meals and bottled water.

Prasad says his own family of four has already spent $240 due to the water issue.

Prasad has voiced his frustration over the lack of communication from the Water Authority of Fiji, saying that despite multiple calls, no clear explanation or assistance was provided.

He says that water carting trucks had not been distributing water in their area.

The resident says it was the first day of school, but his children couldn’t attend because of the water issue.

He says WAF was not aware of the water cut until today.

Prasad understands that burst pipes can be unpredictable but stressed that timely updates on water supply should be made available.

He says that many low-income families can't afford to buy bottled water or buy food daily.

WAF says the water supply may normalise this afternoon.

Meanwhile, Samabula residents are also affected by a burst main line.

The areas include Belo Street, Kanavi Street, Kaka Street, Gaji Road, Ruve Street, RamKaran Singh Road, Beddoes Road, Udit Narain Road and surrounding areas.
