AG withdraws comment made to NFP parliamentarian

The Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum withdrew a comment made to NFP parliamentarian, Prem Singh during a debate on the Passports Amendment Bill in parliament this afternoon.

Speaker of Parliament, Doctor Jiko Luveni told Sayed-Khaiyum to withdraw the comment after a point of order was raised by NFP parliamentarian Tupou Draunidalo.

Luveni said the comment has to be withdrawn if a particular member of parliament finds it offensive.

Singh asked the Attorney General to withdraw the comment immediately after it was made.

Singh then said the comment made by Sayed-Khaiyum was offensive.

Sayed-Khaiyum then withdrew the comment but said he had never stated what Prem Singh was referring to.
