AG encourages Labasa businesses to join the Stronger Together Job Scheme

Attorney General and Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has encouraged business houses in Labasa to be part of the Stronger Together Job Support Scheme.

While speaking to the Labasa Chamber of Commerce, Sayed-Khaiyum says so far only one company from Labasa has joined the scheme and that is the 100%  government-owned Fiji Rice.

He says they have hired one person and that is something.

Sayed-Khaiyum told the businesses that he hopes they can use that as an example.

He says under the scheme 600 jobs have been created.

More than 20 companies have registered under the scheme.

Under the scheme government will be paying the minimum wage rate of $2.68 and if there is an additional sum to be paid that will be catered for by the employer.
