Airports Fiji Limited is targetting to make a massive profit of 33 million dollars this year and 46 million dollars next year.

This has been confirmed by Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum as he also revealed AFL’s major plans in parliament.

Sayed-Khaiyum said AFL plans to deliver about 250 million dollars in capital upgrades over the next 5 years.

This is part of the company’s plans to develop the infrastructure of the 15 airports operated by AFL.

The centrepiece of the programme is the Nadi International Airport Terminal’s modernisation programme which is expected to be completed by May 2016.

There are also plans in the near future to build a 70 room transit hotel located within the Nadi Airport complex as we see an increasing number of transit passengers.

Sayed-Khaiyum said the Nausori Airport development plan is expected to be finalised this year.

The Attorney General also said that Fiji Airways will soon announce it’s 2014 financial results which are more than double the best profit in it’s history.

Fiji Airways will also start it’s Shanghai charter services in partnership with Rosie Holidays from this month, begin the direct Honiara service from April, have direct Wellington flights in June, and get additional flights to Sydney, Melbourne and Christchurch.

The new A330-300 will also provide a 6 percent capacity increase for the airline’s popular Los Angeles route.

The government has also approved 3 flights per week for Jetstar from the Gold Coast to Nadi.

Sayed-Khaiyum said negotiations are underway with Russia and the United Arab Emirates as they have also approached Fiji to sign Air Services Agreements.
