$8.6M of employees FNPF contributions owed by employers

About $8.6 million of employees Fiji National Provident Fund contributions are currently owed by employers to the FNPF.
 
FNPF Chief Executive Officer Aisake Taito said in cases where employers have not been deducting the FNPF contributions, FNPF prosecutes the defaulting employer and defaulting directors are placed on Departure Prohibition Order with the Department of Immigration.

Taito said defaulting employers are liable to pay $100 per employee per month or part of the month if contributions are not paid as stipulated under Section 130 of the FNPF Decree.

Taito said the FNPF Board has extended its Surcharge Waiver to the 30th of this month to allow all employers who have not paid in their employees contributions to do so.

FNPF is encouraging all employees to contact their Customer Services Centre frequently to check their FNPF contributions.

He said those without pay slips are encouraged to demand for one and to lodge a complaint to the nearest FNPF branch or agency if contributions are not paid.
