65-year-old woman celebrates Diwali with underprivileged people after husband’s passing

As we approach Diwali, a 65-year-old woman from Lokia Nausori, shares her story of how she celebrates her Diwali with people in old age homes and children living on the streets by providing sweets and food to those who cannot afford to celebrate.

The woman says she usually visits hospitals as well to share the happiness with those fighting for their lives in a healthy way by providing them with fruits instead of sweets.

She says her husband passed away in 2022, and she decided to celebrate her Diwali with those who have also lost someone close to their hearts.

She further says on the day of Diwali she goes to the Temple and participates in ‘Bhajan and Kirtan’, where she finds peace.

The woman adds that Diwali doesn’t mean buying expensive clothes but it is about doing good deeds when no one is watching as that does reflect the true values of Hinduism.
