50% increase in interest from investors compared to last year

There is potential for more investment going forward as Investment Fiji has seen a 50% increase in interest from investors compared to last year.

CEO Kamal Chetty says they monitor a few indicators which are investment related and also what is happening globally.

Chetty says at the moment these are just interests and it will take time for the actual work to start but adds these are signs that things are improving.

He says these are mostly in the tourism, outsourcing and real estate sectors.

Chetty adds the BPO sector has a very good value preposition for investors and there is a lot of interest from abroad to look at Fiji as a risk diversification location.

He says as highlighted earlier, the Government wants to employ about 100,000 people in the BPO sector and Investment Fiji is working towards achieving that goal.
