5-year-old dies in Labasa fire

A five-year-old boy passed away early this morning after a fire at Tuatua Housing in Labasa.

Police spokesperson, Ana Naisoro confirms that five year old Shaiyaz Ali passed away due to severe burns.

National Fire Authority’s Chief Executive Officer, John O’Connor confirms that they received a call at about 3.40 this morning.

O’Connor says the house was engulfed in flames when the firefighters arrived at the scene.

He says they have been told that three people were rushed to the hospital.

The cause of the fire is yet to be established.

Naisoro says another child is admitted in critical condition.
