It was a momentous moment for the villagers of Kalabu in Naitasiri after witnessing their prayers being heard, as five solar lights were commissioned at their community by the Minister of Housing and Local Government Maciu Nalumisa.

The Minister was accorded the full traditional welcome upon arrival. While commissioning the five solar lights, Nalumisa says the solar lights symbolise a leap into a future where the night no longer brings uncertainty but security and community bonding.

Nalumisa says the landowners of Kalabu have contributed to the growth of Nasinu, and their sacrifice is acknowledged today with a small gesture that will ensure their kindness is met with tangible benefits in their community.

He says the initiative goes beyond the physical installation of lights, where it speaks to the heart of what it means to be a community.

He adds the Nasinu Town Council, in partnership with the Ministry of Youth, will engage the youths in community projects to empower them and provide employment.

The Minister says this will also assist their families to move towards enhanced livelihood, feel more passionate about the township, reduce crime rates, and improve their residents’ standard of living.

He says as these lights shine over Kalabu every night, let them illuminate the shared path forward to unity, progress, and unwavering hope.
