Five additional K-9s have joined the Fiji Police Dog Unit.

They are K-9 Spike, K-9 Lola, K-9 Simba, K-9 Princess and K-9 Raja, who graduated after three months of training.

Chief of Planning and Internal Affairs Officer, Assistant Commissioner of Police Aporosa Lutunauga says they are all aware of the critical contributions of the K-9s towards the organisation.

ACP Lutunauga says the graduation was an extraordinary event since they were able to conduct the training at Nasese instead of going abroad.

He adds they are looking forward to the resumption of training opportunities in New Zealand under the partnership program which focuses of the development and capabilities of their K-9 Unit.

The Police Chief of Planning has acknowledged the contribution by the New Zealand Government and its Police towards the development of the Fiji Police K-9 Unit.

3 of the five K-9s will be deployed to the Western Division.
