41-year-old man charged with possession of illicit drugs in Dokanaisuva

A 41-year-old man has been charged with possession of illicit drugs following a search of his vehicle at a Police checkpoint in Dokanaisuva, Tacirua Heights in Suva.

The man and his 35-year-old wife were stopped at the checkpoint at around 1am on Saturday.

Police had earlier said officers searched the vehicle and allegedly found white powder believed to be illicit drugs and burglary tools.

They had also said the vehicle had an expired wheel tax, while the 41-year-old man, who was driving, did not have a valid driver's licence.

The 41-year-old will appear in the Suva Magistrates Court today.
