40 community organizations receive grants worth $272,000

Forty community-based organizations in the Central Division received much-needed assistance from the government, with a grant totalling $272,000 from the Ministry of Multi-Ethnic Affairs.

For many, this funding is more than just financial support—it is an opportunity to rebuild, strengthen, and uplift their communities by supporting vital projects that make a real difference in people’s lives.

These projects include fencing for safety, renovations for spiritual buildings, musical instruments, and accessibility improvements for those in need.

While distributing the grants, Minister for Multi-Ethnic Affairs Charan Jeath Singh emphasized to the recipients the importance of these funds in fostering unity and social cohesion.

The Minister says these grants are not just about infrastructure but about strengthening communities and ensuring that cultural and spiritual spaces remain vibrant and accessible to all.

He also assured the representatives of the organizations that the grant program is a testament to the government’s commitment to fostering unity and supporting communities at the grassroots level.

A total of six categories received these grants, including cemeteries, churches and temples, youth and women’s groups, institutions, and mandalis.
