37 students graduate from English Access Micro-scholarship Program

37 students from two schools, Gospel High School from Suva and Ratu Latianara College from Korovisilou graduated from the second cohort of the English Acess Micro-scholarship Program today.

The program which was implemented in partnership with Vision Fiji provides two years of intensive English language and leadership training for students.

The children with special needs from Gospel High School were also part of the graduation.

Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of the United States of America, John Degory says he is thankful for the dedication and passion of the organizers in bringing the program to life.

Degory says the USA wants to provide these students with the skills they need to succeed, and he reminds graduates that speaking foreign languages has special power.

He says as a student of language himself, learning other languages has been beneficial for him.

Degory stresses that the program supplements English courses through listening, speaking, and reading.

He says the graduates will benefit from this professional development in terms of enhancing their digital literacy as well.
