33-year-old arrested at Nadi Airport for alleged meth possession

A 33-year-old Fijian national was arrested at the Nadi International Airport last Friday after substance alleged to be methamphetamine was found in his possession upon arrival from an international flight.

Police say officers from the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service deployed K9s, and a search was conducted on the suspect.

They say the K9 officer indicated presence of alleged illicit substances, and further inspection was conducted on the suspect’s belongings.

Police say this led to the discovery of white crystal substances believed to be methamphetamine.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu commended the collaborative efforts of border enforcement agencies in combating drug trafficking, emphasising their shared commitment to protecting Fijians from the harmful effects of illicit drugs.

The seized substances has been sent for analysis.
