18kg of cocaine tests positive in case involving Colombian national Aiden Hurtado
The 18 kilograms of cocaine linked to Colombian national Aiden Alec Hurtado, who was convicted of unlawful possession of illicit drugs in 2017, has tested positive for cocaine.

State lawyer, Eoghn Samisoni confirmed to Suva High Court Judge Justice Thushara Rajasinghe that drugs have been tested positive for cocaine and the weight has not changed.

Samisoni also submitted the report to Justice Rajasinghe this morning.

Justice Thushara Rajasinghe earlier this month ordered to ascertain the status of the 18 kilograms of cocaine tendered as exhibits and determine whether the drugs had been destroyed following the conclusion of the trial.

Hurtado was convicted in 2017 for the unlawful importation of 18 kilograms of cocaine into Fiji in 2014.

The matter will be called again at 2.30pm as Justice Rajasinghe needs to go through the report.
