As Hindu's around the country mark the Navratri festival, three temples were broken into last night in the Nausori area and thieves then set fire to the storeroom at one of the temples.
Police spokesperson Atunaisa Sokomuri confirmed that the Kali Mata Mandir in Korociriciri, Sanatan Ramayan Mandir and the Nag Baba Kuti in Raralevu were broken into last night and the thieves then tried to burn down the storeroom of the Nag Baba Kuti.
Fiji Labour Party leader Mahendra Chaudhry who was attending a meeting in the area visited the three temples this afternoon.
He said police must step up patrols in the area to ensure thieves do not continue to target places of worship.
Sokomuri assures that immediate steps are being taken to try and step up police presence in the area.
