A 29-year-old farmer has been remanded in custody for allegedly pouring hot water on his 52-year-old father and hitting him with a stick following a heated argument regarding their home.

He is charged with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Police say the incident occurred at the Vunimakosoi Settlement and was reported at the Tukavesi Police Station on Monday.

The father remains admitted at the Labasa Hospital and is in stable condition.

The man was produced in the Savusavu Magistrates Court and has been remanded until the 19th of this month.

Police are pleading with all Fijians not to resort to violence when settling grievances.

They say if you know you cannot control your emotions, walk away and take a breather, before your actions land you in trouble and harm others.
