24 Police officers receive UN service medals

24 Fijian Police Officers serving in Liberia have received United Nations service medals in Monrovia.

The Fijian contingent leader, SSP Hari Chand said that in the eight months the current contingent has been serving in Liberia they have shown excellent team spirit and dedication to their work.

United Nations Mission in Liberia Police Commissioner Gautam Swarang told the Fijians they have set high standards and should take great satisfaction from the progress they are helping to bring following the prolonged civil war in the West African country.

Meanwhile four Fijian female Police officers serving in Liberia are performing to high standards.

UNMIL Inspectors Nandani Kisun hails from Narewa in Ra and was previously stationed at Tavua Police Station.

Sailila Miller is from Valebasoga, Macuata and was serving as a constable at the Dreketi Police Post.

Also part of the contingent is Vaciseva Kuruleba from Bukuya, Ba and Selai Wacau from Macuata.

Wacau who was based at the Labasa Police Station is now working in the UNMIL’s crime analysis unit.
