2026/2027 National Budget responsible, well-considered amid global fuel crisis - Prof. Prasad

The 2026/2027 National Budget is a very responsible and well-thought-out budget in the circumstances that we are in as far as the global fuel crisis goes.

National Federation Party Leader and Government MP, Professor Biman Prasad highlighted this today saying the government has ensured that there are no new taxes, that all the good policies that they had to support our people in the last budget is continuing.

Professor Prasad says that he thinks that this budget gives a lot of confidence to the people that there would be no cut in some of those support to cushion the impact of the cost of living.

He says in addition to that, the global environment is changing, with fuel prices likely to come down from July, so that will provide further relief.

The former Finance Minister says given the external circumstances, like the fuel crisis, it's a very responsible budget and continues with the good policies that they had implemented in the last three years.

When asked if he was consulted on this budget, Professor Prasad says they were.
