2 students believed to have drowned in Semo River

Two students aged 14 and 20 years are believed to have drowned.

Police say the two students from Waiqaliqali in Sigatoka were bathing their horses in the Semo River when they disappeared after 2pm yesterday.

They say a search was conducted throughout the night and the bodies of the victims were recovered before midnight.

Police say a post mortem will be conducted to ascertain the cause of their deaths.

The drowning death toll stands at 24 compared to 28 for the same period last year.
