Two people are in police custody in relation to two separate incidents of drugs.

In the first incident, the Police Drugs Operation team raided a house in Votua Road, Samabula yesterday belonging to a man alleged to be involved in the manufacture of illicit substances.

Dried leaves were discovered believed to be marijuana and other items.

The suspect is in police custody.

In the second incident, police also raided a home in Wailea belonging to a 27‑year‑old woman in which seeds and a sack of dried leaves believed to marijuana was found.

The woman is currently in police custody.

Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho says Police will continue on their focus on drugs.

Qiliho says all efforts will be put in to try and eliminate the illegal trade that has lasting negative effects on everyone it comes into contact with.

He adds that although a handful continues to benefit from this illegal trade, so many others are suffering from its impact which is the reason why the Police will continue to focus on drugs.

Qiliho adds that they are looking at the future generation so they do not get caught in this vicious cycle.
