Rugby fans in Fiji and around the world will get the rare opportunity see the two best minds in the history of sevens rugby combine when the King of world 7s Waisale Serevi and the master tactician NZ coach, Gordon Tietjens team up for the Uprising Fiji International Sevens this weekend.
Waisale Serevi has told Fijivillage that he and Tietjens have been in opposing teams for years but for the first time they will be both on the same side.
Tietjens is known for sitting on the sidelines with his notebook jotting down all the key issues in his team or the opposing team.
Serevi jokingly said this weekend, when they work together in the Digicel Matai 7s team, there may be two notebooks.
Serevi also said he knows that he can no longer represent Fiji at the top international rugby level but he said he now has set his objective on doing other things that will benefit his family and Fiji through the promotion of the country.
Last year, life for Serevi was not that rosy after he faced a lot of personal issues and challenges.
Some even said that it was his fall from grace when the turn of events in his life was highlighted and even speculated in the media.
However Serevi said he is back on his feet and he said it is time for a change for him.
Serevi will be coach and player for the Digicel Matai team that will also feature Gordon Tietjens in the Uprising Fiji International 7s.
