18 Leadership Fiji participants of 2023 graduate, reminded about the philosophy of leadership

18 participants of the Leadership Fiji Program graduated last night and were recognised for their commitment to 1 year of learning the values of leadership.

The 18 participants included leaders from various organisations around Fiji including Communications Fiji Limited, the parent company of Legend FM, FM 96, Viti FM, Navtarang, Sargam and fijivillage.

While delivering his speech, Leadership Fiji Founding Member and Chairman, William Parkinson said the organisation’s focus and philosophy about leadership is that it is about action and not position.

Parkinson says it is about inspiring others, and also creating and driving positive change which has continued on to this day.

He says the main thing that Leadership Fiji is looking for when they are making selections for participants is diversity because a lot of the learning in the organisation takes place across the group.

He adds that the new inductees of the 2025 Leadership Fiji Program are a diverse group and they will be hearing more of it as the program goes on.

Midlink Marketing Managing Director and former Chairman of Fiji Media Council Arshad Daud, while speaking at the event as the Chief Guest, highlighted the core of leadership.

Daud says it is divided into constants and it includes vision, courage and wisdom.

Daud who is an alumnus of Leadership Fiji shared his experiences from their time in the program back in 2002 and the changes that he has seen that have occurred over the years to date.

He says no matter what the innovations are, the goal of leadership should remain the same and that is seeking clarity, acting courageously, and bringing others along.

He adds the essence of leadership transcends time and technology, as the methods are involved but the mission remains and that is to serve our communities, elevate those around us and leave Fiji better than when we found it.

The Leadership Fiji Program inductees of 2025 commence their training today.
