Police operations resulted in more people arrested for drug-related offences, where a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old were arrested in Lautoka after being found with several sachets of dried leaves believed to be marijuana.

Divisional Police Commander West, Senior Superintendent of Police Iakobo Vaisewa says a 20-year-old man was arrested in a nightclub with a bag containing dried leaves believed to be marijuana.

Divisional Police Commander North, Senior Superintendent of Police Kemueli Baledrokadroka says a driver was arrested in Savusavu after parcels of dried leaves believed to be marijuana were found.

In another case, SSP Baledrokadroka says a 35-year-old farmer was arrested after allegedly being found with dried leaves believed to be marijuana.

Police say they are committed to curbing the drug trade that has devastating impacts on the communities.

They say with children and juveniles being arrested for being found in possession, the way forward is to strengthen community partnerships as a holistic approach is needed to keep vulnerable members of the community falling victim to the impacts of drugs.
