11th place finish for Fijiana 7s in the LA 7s after 40-7 win over Spain

The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s side wrapped up their Los Angeles 7s campaign with an 11th-place finish after beating Spain 40-7 in their Women’s 11th-place playoff match this morning.

Fiji scored a total of 6 tries including a double from speedster Heleina Young and 5 conversions.

Fiji led 19-0 at halftime after tries from Maria Rokotuisiga, Ilisapeci Delaiwau and Young including two conversions from Lavena Cavuru.

Mereadani Qoro, Young and Adi Vani Buleki scored a further three converted tries in the second half for the win while Spain managed to get a converted try in the second half for the final score.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Men’s 7s will play Argentina at 11.58am today in the 5th place playoff.

The Women’s Cup semi finals will kick off at 9.24am while the Men’s Cup semi finals will kick off at 10.08am.

The Women’s Cup final will kick off at 1.43pm today and the Men’s Cup final will kick off at 2.23pm today.
