100 teachers left our shores two months ago to join other professions.

Fiji Teachers Union General Secretary, Muniappa Goundar says this includes teachers from Early Childhood, Primary and Secondary School.

Goundar says that primary and secondary school students are the most affected.

He says the union cannot stop the teachers from going overseas because they have made up their minds.

Goundar says to minimize this issue, the Ministry of Education needs to make their teaching and learning at the school level more lucrative and more interesting.

He adds as a union they look at the terms and conditions of teachers and they have been telling the ministry to improve the terms of remuneration of teachers.
