The South Africa Men's Rugby Sevens team has been put into isolation upon arrival in Tokyo ahead of the Olympic Games, having been informed of a positive COVID-19 case on their inbound flight.

None of the players and officials returned a positive test, but a passenger not linked to the squad produced a positive return that has had a knock-on effect.

Head coach Neil Powell says they are in a good space, despite the upheavals encountered.

The team will be tested again today, after which a decision on their travel plans will be made.

South Africa which settled for bronze in Rio is in Pool C with USA, Kenya and Ireland.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s team will face Japan at 12pm on the 26th of this month in its first match.
