QVS Old Boys defeated Vunidakua 14-6 in the Digicel Escott Shield and Koroturaga Cup competition at Buckhurst Park today.

Flying Fijians hooker Tevita Ikanivere, Setareki Raoba, Josefa Vurewa, Lemeki Sonivalu and Paul Dolokoto featured for QVS Old Boys.

In other round 1 matches, Covenant Brothers Red edged Namadi Brothers 12-10 while Lomaiviti Green defeated Central Babas 17-13.

Suva Rugby Union President, Captain Humphrey Tawake says their club competition has been the backbone of Suva Rugby’s success in the Provincial Competition in the last 3 years.

Tawake says it has also been the platform to keep youths occupied, away from drugs and crime, and securing a living through rugby.

A total of 50 men’s team and 4 women’s teams are participating in this year’s Digicel Escott Shield and Koroturaga Cup competition.
