As drunk driving continues to be a significant concern during the festive season, police patrols in Fiji’s Northern Division are increasing their efforts to maintain safety.

Acting Divisional Police Commander North, Superintendent of Police Eroni Soqosoqo, highlighted this while speaking to fijivillage News earlier this week.

He emphasised the dedication of officers working 12-hour shifts to ensure the safety of Fijians.

SP Soqosoqo urged individuals planning to drink alcohol with family and friends to avoid driving as this poses a risk to all road users whether they be drivers, passengers, riders or pedestrians.

He called for collective responsibility, encouraging everyone to act sensibly and avoid trouble.

SP Soqosoqo further says that the patrol initiative is part of phase 2 of their holiday operations, which began this week while phase 3 will conclude on January 15.

Police remain committed to ensuring a safe and incident-free festive season for all Fijians.
