Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka is in Vanua Levu today and will be engaged in a three-day visit to the north.

Accompanying Rabuka this morning is the Chinese Ambassador to Fiji, Zhou Jian.

During the visit, the Prime Minister will engage with the Chinese Technical team undertaking a feasibility study for the anticipated road upgrade project and visiting the roads earmarked for the upgrade programme.

Rabuka will cross the Somosomo Strait to Taveuni to attend the Cakaudrove Provincial Council meeting tomorrow and Thursday.

He will return to Suva on Friday.

Meanwhile, the government last month signed an agreement with the People’s Republic of China for a $300 million road upgrade in Vanua Levu.

The project aims to benefit Fijians in terms of improved access to schools, health facilities, businesses, and markets.
