NZ 7s escapes defeat after 7-5 win over Lavidi Brothers

The New Zealand 7s side escaped the jaws of defeat in their second game at the 48th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s after edging Lavidi Brothers 7-5 this afternoon.

The side led by veteran playmaker, Joe Webber, scored a last-minute converted try to win the match after Lavidi Brothers led 5-0 throughout the game.

NZ forward Tone Ng Shiu says it is always tough playing against a Fijian side, and it showed in their two recent matches.

He says they expected tough competition, and that is what they got.

The side defeated Fire Rugby 22-10 in their first match.

In other results, Uluinakau defeated FlameTree Waimanu 24-7, Royal Navy beat Sidefloat Buliya 26-14, Raiwasa Taveuni beat Varon Garden Eagle 14-5 and Post Fiji Tabadamu defeated Ratu Filise 19-12.
