It is a worry that there are a high number of cases of mental health that involves people under the age of 60.

While speaking to fijivillage News, Lifeline Fiji team leader, Jeremaia Merekula says there have been 107 cases of suicide from January to August with 63 completed and 44 attempted cases.

Merekula says the highest number of suicide cases are male and this cuts through all age groups.

He says most of the cases are from the Western Division.

The Lifeline team leader says talks for mental health should be a concern of the family, and the community and we never know that we could be saving someone's life.

He adds it is also important to create a culture of acceptance for elderly in society.

Merekula says there are services available that people can reach out to, and can talk about whatever challenges or situational challenges that they a going through so that they don't lose themselves to suicide.
