King Charles sends well-wishes to Fiji for 55th Independence Day

King Charles III has conveyed his heartfelt congratulations to the people of Fiji as the nation marks its 55th Independence Day today.

In a message addressed to the President, King Charles says he and Queen Camilla were pleased to extend their warm wishes on this important national occasion.

He says his hope remains that he will be able to return to Fiji at some point in the future.

He further says the close ties and friendship between the two countries and people are an enduring gift that we must continue to invest in and cherish.

He adds that the Commonwealth of Nations will continue to draw on its remarkable diversity and inspirational young people to rise to the opportunities and challenges of our time.

The King says Fiji is a trusted advocate and a respectable voice among island states as the global family seeks to navigate the challenge of combating climate change and reducing nature loss.

He hopes that together, we can address this most defining and pressing issue of our time.
