Fijiana XVs not banking on Oceania Women’s Rugby Championship triumph ahead of Japan test

The Vodafone Fijiana XVs side will not be banking on their triumph at the recent Oceania Women’s Rugby Championship as Japan will bring a different approach into their test match tonight.

Captain Merewai Cumu says the players have been reminded that they need to forget about the win in Brisbane two weeks ago and turn their focus to these two test matches against Japan.

Cumu says the importance of these two test matches is that they will have an impact on their standings in the overall women’s world rankings.

She says it won’t be an easy task trying to topple a team that is ranked higher than them, but they will put their bodies on the line to secure a win for their home fans.

The Fijiana XVs is currently ranked 15th and a win tonight will see them climb to a new high of 14th and overtake Russia.

A loss at home will see Fiji remain in 15th.

The Fijiana will take on Japan at 6 this evening at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.

Tickets are $15 for the grandstand, $5 for grass seating and children under 12 are free.
