Head of Family Health from the Ministry of Health, Doctor Rachel Devi and HIV advocate and Medical Services Pacific Counselor, Rebecca Kubunavanua will appear on fijivillage Straight Talk With Vijay Narayan at 7pm today.

The number of new HIV infections in Fiji has surged by a staggering 260 percent since 2010, making Fiji the second fastest-growing epidemic in the Asia Pacific region.

A detailed analysis of the data reveals that 245 new cases of HIV were diagnosed last year, the highest ever to be recorded in a year, indicating that new HIV infections are on the rise.

The show will focus on the high number of reported HIV cases, unreported cases, high level of unprotected sex, high rate of underage sex and teenage pregnancies, the major causes, living with HIV, the challenges, the taboo surrounding the issue of talking about sex, the current situation, how did we get here and what needs to be done.
