Residents of Uciwai, Nadi, say they are still waiting for a lasting solution to their deteriorating road, with the Fiji Roads Authority saying it is looking into the concerns raised.
Uciwai resident Seleima Wati Evans says the community has been raising concerns about potholes, dust and the condition of the road for several years.
Evans says the situation is particularly concerning for people living close to the roadside, especially school students who are exposed to dust generated by passing vehicles.
She says she recently lodged another complaint with the Fiji Roads Authority and followed the required process by collecting signatures from residents through a petition.
She says letters of support have also been received from community representatives and businesses in the area, highlighting the impact the road condition is having on the community.
Evans says Uciwai advisory councillor Mahendra Reddy has also raised concerns about the condition of the road and its impact on residents and businesses.
She says previous repair work has failed to provide a lasting solution, with potholes patched and sections of the road repaired only for the problems to return.
Evans says residents want the road to be properly repaired rather than relying on temporary fixes.
She says the deteriorating road continues to affect residents and businesses, while the dust remains a concern for families living along the roadside.
Evans says residents should not have to continue living with the same road conditions after years of raising their concerns.
The Fiji Roads Authority says it is looking into the matter.
