A 68-year-old man from Udu Village in Totoya, Lau, is missing at sea, with a joint search and rescue operation underway involving the Republic of Fiji Navy, Police and local communities.
Police say the man left Udu Village on Thursday in his new white fibreglass boat, named JAHAZIAH, for a test run towards Cakauloaloa Reef but failed to return.
The matter was reported by his wife, following which a search party was formed.
The Rescue Coordination Centre Fiji is currently coordinating the search, with a Navy vessel deployed to assist.
Authorities are urging maritime communities to keep a watchful eye and call 1681 if they have any information that could assist in locating the missing man.
