MGM High School’s Under-17 girls netball team secured a hard-fought 22-11 victory over Vunimono High School in their Crest Chicken Secondary School Netball Competition pool match.
The Vunimono side from Nausori remained competitive throughout the game, but MGM stayed composed under pressure and maintained their momentum to claim the win.
MGM captain Adi Sera Faith Dawai says the result reflects the team’s hard work and dedication during their preparation.
She says the team has been training since the beginning of the year, with regular morning and afternoon sessions helping them prepare for the competition.
Dawai says the journey has not been easy, with players putting in extra effort through early morning training sessions before school.
She thanked their parents, teachers, managers and sponsor Ditesh Patel for their continued support.
Dawai says Patel has been a strong supporter of the school’s sporting teams, including athletics and netball.
She says the competition has been challenging, with every team giving their best effort on court.
Dawai adds the team will continue working hard as they aim to achieve their goals in the competition.
In other pool results, Nadroga Arya College lost to Jasper Williams High School 15-9 in the Under-15 girls grade, while Levuka Public School defeated Saint Joseph Secondary School 20-10 in the Under-19 girls competition.
In the open girls grade, Koro Island High School defeated Yat Sen Secondary School 15-13, while Central College Lautoka and Saint Francis College played out an 11-all draw.
In the open boys grade, Ra High School defeated Noco Secondary School 19-6, while Bhawani Dayal Secondary School secured a 13-11 win over Central College.
Due to wet weather conditions the quarter-finals have been moved to tomorrow.
