Speaking to fijivillage news, Fiji Secondary Schools Netball Vice-President, Josua Qalo says Wainibuka Secondary School announced itself as one of the teams to watch after winning the Under-15 title in the Eastern Rally.
He says Vunimono High School also continued its rise by claiming the Under-17 title, while retaining the boys' championship for a third consecutive year.
Qalo says Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School was another standout performer after winning both the Under-14 and Under-19 titles in the Central Rally, while St Joseph's Secondary School claimed the Under-17 title and Suva Grammar School won the Under-15 grade.
Despite the emergence of the new challengers, Adi Cakobau School showed it remains one of the competition's traditional powerhouses by defending both the Under-19 and Open grade titles in the Eastern Rally, while also finishing runners-up in the Under-15 and Under-17 grades.
Qalo says the Fiji Secondary Schools Netball Championships will be held in Suva on the 19th, 20th and 25th of August.
He says schools that qualified through the Eastern, Central, Northern, West One and West Two rallies will be joined by the winners of the Maritime Rally on the 17th of August.
Schools from the Lau Group, Lomaiviti and Kadavu will compete in the Maritime Rally for the remaining places in the national championships.
