Former Suva lawyer Shazran Abdul Lateef has been sentenced to 20 months in prison after being convicted of possessing unlawful drugs.
He will serve this term concurrently with the three-year, eight-month sentence he is serving for possessing 9.5 grams of methamphetamine and 3.5 grams of marijuana on 9th May 2019.
While sentencing, Magistrate Joseph Daurewa says Lateef has 28 days to appeal the decision.
The Magistrate has also ordered that the drugs currently in police custody be destroyed within 28 days of the sentencing.
Lateef was charged with possession of 1.81 grams of methamphetamine and 1.0 grams of marijuana, following an incident on 13th August, 2021.
