We have to be more patient and find balance - Ikanivere after 39-24 loss to Wales

We have to be patient more, says FIJI Water Flying Fijians captain Tevita Ikanivere, as the side reflects on key decision-making issues following their 39–24 defeat to Wales in Cardiff.

Speaking during the post-match press conference, Ikanivere says Fiji’s attacking style is developing, but the team must find the right balance between fast, expansive play and controlled phases, particularly in scoring positions.

Ikanivere says the team must learn when to slow the game down and when to speed it up in order to become more effective in crucial moments.

Despite the loss, the captain pointed to encouraging attacking statistics, including 667 metres made, 23 clean breaks and 42 offloads, but admitted they were not converted into enough points.

He says execution under pressure remains a key focus area, particularly when deciding whether to offload or take the ball into contact.

Fiji will now turn its attention to its next Test as it looks to bounce back from the opening defeat.

Fiji will face England on Sunday at 1.10am at Hill Dickinson Stadium in Liverpool, England.
