As more people begin to feel the impacts of the dry spell, Minister for Public Works and Meteorological Services Ro Filipe Tuisawau is urging all Fijians to invest in water conservation measures, such as water tanks.
Ro Filipe says the Water Authority of Fiji has been conducting ongoing assessments over the past two months, with mitigation measures in place, including providing relief to some areas experiencing difficulties and placing water tanks at strategic locations within communities as they move forward.
He says they are also working closely with the National Disaster Risk Management Office to mobilise resources at the national level.
He adds that they are also working closely with the Fiji Meteorological Service to monitor the weather situation.

Meanwhile, families in parts of Lautoka may experience low water pressure or temporary water cuts overnight as prolonged dry weather continues to reduce water flows into the Saru water system.
Students at Batiki District School attended only half-day classes this week due to limited water, while parents cleaned an old dam about four kilometres away in an effort to secure another water source. They have been provided emergency water supplies.
