No-case-to-answer ruling in health tender trial set for October 1st
The ruling on the no-case-to-answer application in the health tender trial of former Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, former Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and former Health Minister Dr Neil Sharma has been set for October 1st.

Defence lawyers Wylie Clarke and Devanesh Sharma submitted that there is no case against their clients and that they should be acquitted.

Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions Laisani Tabuakuro argued that there is evidence to support all the charges.

Bainimarama is charged with one count of abuse of office.

Sayed-Khaiyum is charged with one count of abuse of office and one count of obstructing the course of justice.

Dr Sharma is charged with two counts of abuse of office and two counts of breach of trust by a person employed in the public service.
