Navatu Secondary School has created history as the first team from the North to reach the final of the Vodafone Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union Super Deans Competition after edging Ratu Kadavulevu School 22-17 in the U19 semi-final.
Navatu Secondary came into the competition as underdogs and were the only team from the North competing in the Super Deans Competition.
They got off to a great start and kept the boys from Delanakaikai at bay in the first half.
RKS regrouped and came out strongly in the second half, closing the gap to 22-17 with a few minutes left to play.
Navatu’s defence was tested but held strong until the final whistle.
Navatu Secondary will now turn their focus to the final, where they will meet Lelean Memorial School, who defeated Ratu Navula College 36-27 at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
In other results, QVS defeated MGM High School 22-15, while Ratu Navula edged RKS 26-25 in the U14 semi-finals.
RKS came from behind to edge rivals Queen Victoria School 28-26, while Marist Brothers High School defeated Lelean Memorial School 16-3 in the U15 semi-finals.
QVS beat MGM High School 17-15, while Suva Grammar thrashed Nasinu Secondary School 22-0 in the U16 semi-finals.
RKS defeated Methodist High School 47-29, while Suva Grammar School overcame Queen Victoria School 32-24 in the U17 semi-finals.
