Patients at Sigatoka Hospital and people facing hardship in Suva are expected to benefit from $60,000 raised by three FNPF-owned IHG hotels in Fiji.
$46,000 will go towards refurbishment work at Sigatoka Hospital, while $14,000 will be donated to the Sacred Heart Soup Kitchen in Suva.
The $46,000 was raised through a charity golf tournament held at the Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course in September.
The three hotels involved were the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, Grand Pacific Hotel Suva and Holiday Inn Suva.
The $14,000 for the Sacred Heart Soup Kitchen was raised through a month-long campaign, with the hotels pledging one dollar from every eligible room night during September.
The donation will support the soup kitchen’s work in providing meals and care to people facing hardship.
IHG Hotels & Resorts Regional General Manager for Fiji and the Pacific, Lachlan Walker, says the initiative is aimed at supporting the communities where the hotels operate.
Walker thanked guests, sponsors, business partners and hotel staff who contributed to the fundraising efforts.
The fundraising was part of IHG’s annual Giving for Good programme, which encourages its hotels to support community initiatives.
