Fiji’s Ambassador to Israel, Jesoni Vitusagavulu says the first group of 25 caregivers is expected to arrive in Israel by December this year.
He highlighted the proposed labour mobility arrangement while speaking at Ariel University as Fiji marked one year since establishing its diplomatic mission in Jerusalem.
Vitusagavulu says the proposed agreement could see up to 1,500 Fijian caregivers work in Israel over the next 12 months.
He also highlighted opportunities for Fijians in agriculture, saying 20 additional students arrived in Israel last month for an 11-month agricultural internship programme, while another 50 students are expected in November.
Vitusagavulu says Fiji’s diplomatic presence in Israel is aimed at creating further opportunities in areas including agriculture, tourism, investment, exports and labour mobility.
He says progress has been made during the embassy’s first year and hopes cooperation between Fiji and Israel will continue to grow.
Fiji opened its Embassy in Jerusalem in September last year.
